Geo-caching and Alaska

John got up early to finish the cinnamon rolls he started yesterday morning and then we went over to the hall for Jay’s famous biscuits & gravy breakfast. There were also scrambled eggs, apple pancakes and a wonderful French toast casserole. Yummy, yummy!

Bob & Greg conducted a fun geo-caching workshop in the morning – including a trip to do two geo-caches. Unfortunately it was raining pretty good, but we all enjoyed it anyway. Some of the gals enjoyed learning how to wire rocks for jewelry with Mark & Renita. Beautiful things!

Lunch was a quick affair after I got changed into dry jeans and then we hauled our stuff over to the hall for our AK presentation. It went OK – had a pretty good crowd for it. We concentrated on things that local Alaskans enjoy doing in Southcentral – since this is a group that are experts in internet research for all those “touristy” places!

Happy hour at 4 and then we enjoyed tacos in a bag, a dessert contest (“Juanita” Newby won with Sex on a Beach, a/k/a Sex in a Dish or Sex in a Ditch) and then a brown bag auction. The group raised $800 for CARE this week – pretty impressive for roughly 50 people! Our wagon-master, Norah, and cat-herders, Linda & Molly did a bang-up job – thanks ladies!!!!

Afterwards, we wandered down to see the most unique rig in our group: Bob & Jan have a 1965 White semi-truck pulling a 1946 Trailmobile trailer. Bob rebuilt the trailer from the framework out and both are painted kelly green. It is very eclectic inside and we truly enjoyed seeing it and visiting with them – fun folks for sure!
